Rafael Schwemmer

Rafael Schwemmer

Founder & Director

Rafael Schwemmer has a Master of Arts (M.A.) in German and English literature as well as a diploma in web programming. He has worked as project manager and lead developer of e-codices before founding text & bytes in 2010. His main interests are Digital Humanities, the web, literature, photography and music.

Douglas Kim

Douglas Kim

Lead Developer

Douglas Kim has worked in the Digital Humanities domain since 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering and has over 20 years of software development experience. He has worked with text & bytes since its inception and has played a major role in building Digital Bodleian 2.0, IIIF Manifest Editor, e-chartae, Library of the Church Fathers, e-codices and Fragmentarium.

Roger Klein

Roger Klein

Consultant, Developer

Roger Klein has over 20 years of experience programming for the web. He teaches web programming, PHP, JavaScript and front-end technologies at the EB Zürich. He regularly works on a project basis with text & bytes as an independent consultant.

Nicolas Mermoud

Nicolas Mermoud

Developer

Nicolas Mermoud has a BSc in media engineering and worked for text & bytes from 2018 to 2023. He likes to act as an intermediary between people and technologies, trying to translate specific needs into relevant, useful and effective solutions. He is passionate about Digital Humanities. He also likes history, cartography, and comics.

We are regularly working with the UX (User Experience) experts and designers from Herrmann Germann GmbH .
